808: A Short Film

“Murder and Angst in Paradise”

Set in Hawaii, "808" (named for Hawaii’s area code) is a 14 minute thriller in which a Native Hawaiian woman tries to reunite with her children and best friend. Instead she is confronted with murder, corruption and alienation.

We follow her struggle for justice, always with the hope of finding redemption.

I created "808" as a love letter to my
home, Hawaii and as a proof-of-concept for my pilot script, also named "808".

808 is an Official Selection in 17 film festivals and has won 8 awards in festivals, including Best Director, Best Indigenous Short and Best Thriller. And I am most proud that it is also an Official Selection at four Indigenous Film Festivals: the LA Skins Fest, the Asinabka Film and Media Festival, and the Chicago First Nations Film and Video Festival.
